<p>The annual rivalry matchup between USC and Notre Dame could be in jeopardy.</p><p>The programs have been unable to agree on an extension of the rivalry beyond the 2025 season, according to <a href="https://www.si.com/college-football/notre-dame-usc-football-series-in-jeopardy-but-irish-looking-to-extend-rivalry">Sports Illustrated's Pat Forde</a>. Their final scheduled matchup is in October.</p><p>USC has offered a one-year extension to play in Los Angeles next season, sources told Forde. However, Notre Dame is seeking a long-term deal.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"I think Southern Cal and Notre Dame should play every year for as long as college football is played, and SC knows that's how we feel," Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua said Monday.</p><p>USC is reluctant to sign a long-term deal because of uncertainty surrounding the College Football Playoff, as well as increased travel due to the school's move from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten, per Forde. But the Trojans are interested in preserving the rivalry game. They've reportedly brought up the idea of moving the matchup to a season-opening place on the schedule.</p><p>"We want the USC-Notre Dame rivalry to continue, which is why we offered an extension of our agreement," USC associate athletic director Cody Worsham said. "It's a special game to our fans and our institution. We will continue to work with Notre Dame on scheduling future games."</p><p>The storied programs have played each other 95 times since 1926, with Notre Dame leading the all-time series 50-37-5. The Trojans have vacated one win, while the Fighting Irish have vacated two. Notre Dame won the 2024 meeting 49-35.</p>

He led the franchise to victory in Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs in February and guided it to a Super Bowl LVII appearance during the 2022 season.</p><p>The 43-year-old's 70.6% regular-season win rate ranks fifth in NFL history among coaches with at least 50 games. Only Hall of Famers Guy Chamberlain (78.4%), John Madden (75.9%), Vince Lombardi (73.8%), and George Allen (71.2%) have better win percentages.</p>

"I know I can still play football. I'm healthy, and I know I can impact the game in a lot of ways. I just need that fair opportunity to come in and show what I can do."</p><p>Adams has appeared in just 15 games over the last three seasons. In 2024, he played in three contests with the Tennessee Titans and two with the Detroit Lions, logging 40 defensive snaps across those outings.</p><p>New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn spent time with Adams last campaign as the Lions' defensive coordinator.</p><p>Adams has 501 total tackles, seven forced fumbles, 36 deflections, and four interceptions over 85 games. He's also totaled 21.5 sacks, which ranks sixth among all defensive backs in NFL history.</p>

<p>The Washington Commanders agreed to a deal with the District of Columbia to build a new stadium at the site of RFK Stadium, the club and Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced Monday.</p><p>"We are thrilled to welcome the Commanders back home to the sports capital," Bowser said in a <a href="https://www.commanders.com/news/mayor-bowser-and-washington-commanders-announce-historic-deal-to-bring-the-team-home">statement</a> Monday. "We said that we could do it all - Commanders, housing, park space, recreation, retail, entertainment, and more - and, together, that's what we are delivering."</p><p>The new stadium will have a capacity of roughly 65,000 seats. It will also have a roof, unlike the Commanders' current stadium, so it can have events all year long. Bowser is optimistic a new stadium would help attract major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, Final Four, and major concerts.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Primary owner Josh Harris previously mentioned his desire to open a new stadium by 2030, which is now the expected opening year for the new building. The Commanders' contract to play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, runs through 2027. The club has the flexibility to extend the deal until the completion of a new stadium since it owns both the stadium and land.</p><p>The Commanders will invest $2.7 billion into the project. Government funding, bonds, and other investors are expected to contribute more than $1 billion combined for the stadium, parking, and the surrounding area.</p><p>The Commanders considered the potential of remaining in Landover and building a new venue at the site of their current stadium. Virginia was also considered but wasn't considered a viable option as the decision-making process developed. The team has practiced in Ashburn, Virginia, dating back to 1992.</p><p>Washington's NFL franchise played at RFK Stadium from 1961-96, winning three Super Bowls.</p><p>The Commanders are coming off one of the most successful seasons in nearly three decades. They finished 2024 with a 12-5 record, making it to the NFC Championship Game behind rising quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/199756" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/199756">Jayden Daniels</a> and head coach Dan Quinn.</p>

"If we can stay true to our evaluation process and follow the board, be disciplined about that over time, we'll select the players that we have conviction on and (that we're) all on board with to make those choices."</p><p>The Panthers' defense ranked 32nd in both yardage and scoring after surrendering 404.5 yards and 31.4 points per game. Morgan and Co. began addressing that side of the ball in free agency and plan to continue bolstering it over the six remaining rounds of the draft.</p><p>"Again, we have eight picks left, and our board has a lot of defensive guys on there as well," the 46-year-old GM added.
