"I have not been cleared to play yet. I was cleared to participate in practice this past Sunday but had an adverse reaction, which is common for someone coming out of protocol. I have been lifting and attending meetings as much as possible but have not physically participated in practice Monday through Thursday of this week. Because of this, I am unable to travel and participate this weekend at Maryland."</p><p>McNamara added: "I have been working with the University of Iowa doctors and trainers, a concussion specialist focused on vision training, as well as engaging in hyperbaric treatments as frequent as possible. Jones will be eligible to sign with any team Monday.</p><p>Jones helped the Giants make the playoffs during the 2022 campaign, but he struggled to meet expectations for the most part after New York drafted him sixth overall in 2019. He left N.Y. with 70 touchdown passes against 47 interceptions in 70 appearances while posting a 24-44-1 record as a starter.</p><p>The quarterback position has been a hot topic for the Cowboys, who saw Prescott sustain a season-ending hamstring injury Nov. 3. With Prescott sidelined, Dallas was outscored 68-16 in two games with Rush under center.</p><p>The Cowboys also roster Lance, who joined the club as part of a 2023 trade in exchange for a fourth-round pick. However, the 2021 No. 3 pick has attempted only six passes with Dallas.</p><p>Jones said Friday that his team doesn't regret acquiring Lance despite the QB's disappointing NFL career.</p><p>"We'd do that again. He's a top-tier pick. A guy we had at the top," Jones said of the Lance trade, according to <a href="https://x.com/jonmachota/status/1860075277495283795">Machota</a>. "Dak was coming up for contract. We wanted to take a look at a good, young talent and didn't feel like we could get anything from a quality standpoint like we could get with Trey."</p><p>The executive added: "Obviously, that puts a little less need in terms of having to rush to do something with Trey. And, as a matter of fact, it makes it hard because Trey, I'm sure, is wanting to see what's out there now that we have committed to Dak long term. But I don't regret that at all."</p><p>Lance, 24, is expected to become a free agent in 2025.</p><p>The 3-7 Cowboys visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday.</p>

The 24-year-old signal-caller was originally considered day-to-day and was a limited participant at practice both Wednesday and Thursday. He left Thursday's session early after experiencing pain in his throwing arm.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy's shoulder pain was a "surprise" for both the player and the team, according to <a href="https://x.com/LombardiHimself/status/1860081319369408967">David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard</a>.</p><p>With Purdy sidelined, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/53651" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/53651">Brandon Allen</a> - whose last NFL start was in 2021 - will start against the Packers. Watt</a>, as the two seek to add another Defensive Player of the Year award to their career resumes this season.</p><p>The Browns star - who claimed DPOY honors last year - says he remains the NFL's best defender after beating Watt's Steelers.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"I'm No. 1," Garrett told <a href="https://twitter.com/NFLonPrime/status/1859817164691099660">Prime Video's Kaylee Hartung</a> postgame. "That's from EDGE1 to Defensive Player of the Year. I'm the guy. That runs through me. There's no other person being defended as I am or schemed or planned against like I am. So just goes to show, you can throw that out the window, I'm going to find a way."</p><p>In addition to three sacks, Garrett forced one fumble while collecting five tackles (three for loss) and three quarterback hits against Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Watt finished the night with four tackles (one for loss) but no sacks. He was previously named the league's top defensive player in 2021.</p><p>Garrett <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3133595" href="https://thescore.com/news/3133595">said</a> Tuesday that he was looking forward to facing the Steelers after Watt didn't attend the NFL's annual awards ceremony out of protest for not winning Defensive Player of the Year in February. The Steelers superstar also shared a viral tweet at the time suggesting he was snubbed.</p><p>"I've got a lot of respect for him, a lot of respect for all the guys over there," Garrett added about Watt on Thursday.</p><p>Garrett now has 10 sacks in 2024 compared to Watt's 7.5. The latter led the NFL with 19 sacks in 2023.</p><p>The Steelers entered Thursday's matchup as one of football's hottest teams, having won five in a row, while the Browns had only two wins all year. With the triumph, Cleveland improves to 3-8 and drops Pittsburgh to 8-3.</p>

<p>Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan said he still has what the New York Jets need to bounce back without a full rebuild amid the team's disappointing season.</p><p>"I look at it this way: Blow it up? We're going to blow the opponents up," Ryan recently said on <a href="https://x.com/ESPNNewYork/status/1859701874385211723">ESPN New York's "Bart &amp; Hahn</a>." "There's way too much talent on this team to play the way we've been playing. Period. How hard can you get a guy to play? That's the thing. Nobody has seen a team that is going to play as hard as this team's going to play in the future, trust me. If I'm the guy, trust me."</p><p>The Jets entered the 2024 campaign with Super Bowl aspirations with a healthy <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/747" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/747">Aaron Rodgers</a> under center and a talented roster around him. Your Grudens or whoever. Give me a break," Ryan said. "They ain't New York Jets. I'm all about the Jets. And the great thing is, yeah, you get a second chance at it, and that doesn't happen very often. Well, when it does, it's usually special. We'll find out if I get that chance or not."</p><p>The 61-year-old added: "If not, I hope they have one hell of a guy in place because I still want to be a fan of the Jets. I still want to be, but when I look around, I know nobody is better than me."</p><p>Ryan posted two winning seasons and helped the Jets reach the AFC title game in back-to-back years in his first two campaigns as their head coach. However, New York wasn't able to replicate that success in the following years under Ryan, who was fired in 2014 with a 46-50 record. Ryan then became the Bills' head coach and went 15-16 before being dismissed after almost two full seasons in Buffalo.</p><p>Ryan has been working as an ESPN analyst since losing the Bills job. He interviewed for the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator role in February before the team hired Mike Zimmer.</p><p>The Jets haven't made the playoffs since the 2010 season, the longest drought in the NFL.</p>

Next time, I will be very careful about what I say. So obviously no disrespect to (McCarthy's) career and what he's made for himself as one of the most winningest coaches."</p><p>Parsons added: "The most important thing is obviously how much love I have for coach McCarthy. You never want to throw shade or anything on your coach. But I think like anything, him understanding I'm always going to be a players' guy first. That's who I go to war with."</p><p>McCarthy's outfit most recently lost to the Houston Texans on Nov. 18, marking the 3-7 Cowboys' fifth straight defeat and leaving McCarthy on the hot seat.</p><p>The 61-year-old, who previously won a Super Bowl with the Packers, is in the last year of his contract with Dallas. The franchise's value has skyrocketed since its relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas, notes Reed.</p>

<p>Dallas Cowboys quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/50470" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/50470">Dak Prescott</a> recently opened up about his 2024 season, saying it might have been his toughest year since entering the NFL.</p><p>"It's been a tough year personally with my emotions because it's a roller coaster," Prescott told <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2024/11/20/for-cowboys-dak-prescott-staying-anchored-is-key-to-coping-with-roller-coaster-2024/">David Moore of The Dallas Morning News</a>. "It's truly been ups and downs. I would say riding a wave I'm constantly preaching about not riding."</p><p>The veteran passer added: "Off the field, it's been some of the most joyous times I ever could have imagined, dreamed of. Having a child, getting engaged, starting a family. But then on the football field, it's probably been as tough of a season as I've ever had. I'd probably say the toughest."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Cowboys have had one of their more disappointing seasons since drafting Prescott in 2016, as Dallas is currently 3-7 while underperforming on both sides of the ball. Prescott appeared in only eight games, completing 64.7% of his passes for 1,978 yards and 11 touchdowns against eight interceptions before sustaining a season-ending hamstring injury.</p><p>Prescott sustained his injury Nov. 3 and was hoping to return this year, but the three-time Pro Bowler recently decided to undergo surgery after meeting with a specialist.</p><p>"At the end of the day, we were hoping in six weeks I could start gaining strength, which is what all of the doctors were telling me," Prescott explained. "But if I waited and rehabbed it, I may or may not be able to regain strength. Even if I did, there was still a chance it would likely tear off."</p><p>Prescott's subpar 2024 followed an excellent 2023 campaign in which he led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes and finished second in MVP voting. His spectacular season helped the veteran QB become the NFL's highest-paid player by signing a four-year, $240-million extension.</p><p>Prescott posted an 86 passer rating in 2024, the lowest of his career and only the second time he finished a year with a rate under 90.</p><p>"Not playing up to my standards, turning the ball over more than I have. Just uncharacteristic," he said. "Leaving some of those games, mentally it was like, 'Man, I saw it the best and clearest I've ever seen it, but maybe I didn't execute that way or the team didn't execute that way.'"</p><p>The Cowboys have had <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/65598" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/65598">Cooper Rush</a> at quarterback with Prescott sidelined. Dallas has lost both games with Rush starting by a combined score of 68-16.</p>

<p>Green Bay Packers quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/104659" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/104659">Jordan Love</a> is looking forward to facing the San Francisco 49ers again Sunday in a rematch of last season's playoff matchup.</p><p>San Francisco claimed a 24-21 divisional-round victory in January to eliminate Green Bay en route to reaching the Super Bowl as NFC champions.</p><p>"I think just ending the season, getting into the playoffs, and being knocked out by the 49ers, whoever it would have been, that game is definitely going to sit with you," Love said Wednesday, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42511163/nfl-packers-jordan-love-49ers-playoff-loss-rematch">ESPN's Rob Demovsky</a>. "That's what you've got to kind of just sit with all offseason, is going back, watching that game, trying to see what you could have done better, could have done differently in that game.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"It definitely sits with you through the offseason, and then you obviously move on. Just knowing that that's the team that knocked us out, we're definitely hungry for this game."</p><p>Love finished the postseason matchup against the 49ers with 21 completions on 34 attempts for 194 yards and two touchdowns to two interceptions, including an INT with 0:52 left in the fourth quarter that sealed San Francisco's victory.</p><p>"Obviously, two turnovers in that game, critical mistakes, the final two-minute drive situation to go win, and having a turnover," Love added. "So just learning from that situation, put myself back in that situation, what would I have done differently? How do I grow from that? Things like that."</p><p>Turnovers have been an issue for Love this season, as he's thrown an NFL-high 11 picks, including at least one in eight straight starts. The star passer missed two games earlier this campaign due to an ankle injury. The 26-year-old has also completed 62.3% of his passes for 2,081 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024.</p><p>Despite Love's mistakes, the 7-3 Packers have won five of their last six matchups and are the No. 6 seed in the NFC.</p>

Overall, he passed for eight touchdowns and three interceptions while posting a 3-3 record as a starter.</p><p>"Last year was a good story and all, how it happened," DeVito said Wednesday, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42511309/new-giants-starter-tommy-devito-trying-avoid-fun-games">Raanan</a>. <p>The Indianapolis Colts wanted to give <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/188125" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/188125">Anthony Richardson</a> a wake-up call by benching the second-year quarterback for veteran <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/2945" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/2945">Joe Flacco</a>, <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42391210/nfl-colts-anthony-richardson-quarterback-return">ESPN's Stephen Holder</a> reports.</p><p>Colts head coach Shane Steichen made the quarterback change two weeks ago in an effort to get Richardson's attention, a source told Holder.</p><p>The 2023 No. 4 pick was apparently unaware of the expectations around a franchise QB in the NFL. He was also described as "naive," not resistant, and the rumors about character concerns were never accurate, Holder adds.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>In particular, the Colts reportedly wanted Richardson to invest more time into the job. The young passer has responded by reportedly arriving to work earlier in recent weeks, going to the team facility around 5:30 a.m. to get an early start on film study.</p><p>Richardson entered the NFL as a long-term project. He started only 10 games in one-plus season in the league before his benching stole headlines Oct. 29. Steichen explained the change by saying Flacco gave the team "the best chance to win" at the time.</p><p>The decision to sit the 22-year-old came after he went viral for coming out of a play on a third-and-goal in a loss to the Houston Texans. Richardson also hasn't been able to improve his accuracy in the NFL, as he's completed just 44.4% of his pass attempts in 2024.</p><p>The Florida product <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3127826" href="https://thescore.com/news/3127826">said</a> Wednesday he was "low-key glad" about his benching, as the past few weeks opened his eyes.</p><p>The Colts went back to Richardson as the QB1 for the remainder of the season after losing two games with the 39-year-old Flacco. He threw only two touchdowns against four interceptions in his two most recent starts.</p><p>The 4-6 Colts will try to snap a three-game skid as they visit the New York Jets on Sunday.</p>

We're aggressive," McLaurin said, per Sullivan.</p><p>The Commanders converted only three of 12 third-down plays against Philadelphia while going 1-for-2 on fourth down. Quinn's outfit had only failed to convert one fourth down before Thursday. The team's 85.7% conversion rate currently ranks third in the NFL.</p><p>Washington's offense had an uncharacteristically bad game with Daniels, who finished with 22 completions on 32 attempts for 191 yards and one touchdown against one interception. The Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite also carried the ball seven times for 18 yards.</p><p>The 7-4 Commanders have now lost two in a row. They'll host the Dallas Cowboys next week. Meanwhile, the 8-2 Eagles will visit the Los Angeles Rams.</p>

I talked to (general manager) Chris (Ballard). But, ultimately, this was my decision," Steichen said Wednesday, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/KBowen1070/status/1856737732250234933">Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan</a>.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Richardson began the season as QB1 but didn't show the improvements that the Colts expected early on, which led to Indianapolis starting the 39-year-old Flacco instead.</p><p>"Everyone has a different turn," Steichen explained, per <a href="https://twitter.com/DaveG_Sports/status/1856737355358482624">Dave Griffiths of FOX59 News</a>. "Everyone has a different play, development, how you go about the process. ... I love Anthony, he's a great person, and (I've) got great faith in him and his abilities to be our franchise quarterback."</p><p>Flacco started two games after the Colts benched Richardson, completing 67.7% of his passes for 451 yards and two touchdowns against four interceptions. Indianapolis lost to the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills in those contests to drop to 4-6 this season.</p><p>The former Super Bowl MVP, who helped the Cleveland Browns make the playoffs last year, said Wednesday he's "disappointed" that he wasn't able to "provide a spark and get some wins" for the Colts, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/KBowen1070/status/1856742910294986754">Bowen</a>. </p><p>Flacco also made three appearances (two starts) earlier this campaign between Weeks 4-6 after Richardson sustained an oblique injury.</p><p>The Colts drafted Richardson fourth overall in 2023 as a long-term project at QB, but the Florida product's rookie season ended prematurely after only four games due to a shoulder injury. The 22-year-old returned to the field in 2024 but struggled in six starts, posting only a 44.4% completion rate with 958 yards and four TDs to seven INTs. He also added 242 yards and one score on the ground.</p><p>"You have things to learn, and I think (Richardson) has done a great job of keeping his head on the right way and showing up and working hard," Flacco said of the young passer.</p><p>Indianapolis, currently the AFC's No. 8 seed, faces the New York Jets on Sunday.</p>
