<p>Winnipeg Jets star goaltender <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/3997" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/3997">Connor Hellebuyck</a> will undergo a minor arthroscopic knee procedure, head coach Scott Arniel confirmed Friday, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6825388/2025/11/21/connor-hellebuyck-injury-jets/">The Athletic's Murat Ates</a>.</p><p>Hellebuyck is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, added <a href="https://www.nhl.com/jets/video/arniel-25-11-21-6385410462112">Arniel</a>.</p><p>"It was just something that the timing is right," Arniel said, according to Ates. "Get it done now. We have a lot of schedule ahead of us. We sat down and talked to him, the medical staff, everybody, the agent. This was just the time to do it."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Hellebuyck owns a .913 save percentage and 2.51 goals against average in 14 games this season. He's claimed back-to-back Vezina Trophies and is the reigning Hart Trophy winner.</p><p>The 32-year-old has been the NHL's workhorse netminder since becoming a full-time starter. Hellebuyck has led all goalies in games played five times in 11 seasons and has appeared in over 60 contests in each of the past four campaigns.</p><p>"To put it plainly, it sucks," Jets captain Adam Lowry said, according to Ates.</p><p>Backup <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/450" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/450">Eric Comrie</a> has gone 4-1 in five starts this season with a .908 SV%. He made a career-high 20 appearances last year.</p><p>"We have all the confidence in the world in what Eric can do," added Lowry, according to Ates. "(Comrie) has come in and he's had a stellar start to the year. He had a great year for us last year. ... He's going to come in and give us a chance to win every night."</p><p>The Jets recalled goaltender <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/13011" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/13011">Thomas Milic</a> from the AHL's Manitoba Moose. Milic, who backstopped Canada to gold at the world juniors in 2023, sports a .921 SV% through nine minor-league appearances this season.</p><p>Winnipeg is third in the Central Division with a 12-7-0 record.</p>

But the hockey itch never went away, and her persistence has now made her one of 10 defenders vying to make Canada's Olympic team.</p><p>"I feel like I kinda blacked out," Tabin told theScore in reference to learning that she would be on Canada's Olympic orientation roster. "I was like, 'Holy shit, this is really happening. I've worked my whole life for this.' I was just in shock, obviously super pumped, excited. I called my mom right away. She was freaking out."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Tabin's rise marks a new era in women's hockey. For years, the lack of a best-on-best professional league inhibited players from breaking into national teams later in their careers and forced many players into early retirement. Exiting college with no money, she accepted that her life in hockey was finished despite having been at Team Canada's fall festival camp a few months earlier.</p><p>"Honestly, it's crazy looking back at that," Tabin said. "I just thought, 'I'm not good enough. I'm not gonna make Team Canada again. Is hockey really worth it?'"</p><p>After a six-game comeback in 2021 was derailed due to visa issues, Tabin again accepted her presumed fate and became an on-ice instructor in her hometown of Winnipeg. It was impossible to know at the time, but the new endeavor would prove to be the catalyst that led to her being on the Olympic radar.</p><p>"Seeing the smiles on young girls warmed my heart," she said. "I'm like, 'I wanna do that. I just want to play the game again.'"</p><p>And that she did. After two seasons away, Tabin finally returned to regular play in 2022 with the PHF's Toronto Six. While balancing a second job at Yamaha Motor Canada, she led all defenders in scoring and helped Toronto win the Isobel Cup. Her excellent play led to her being selected 30th overall by the Montreal Victoire in the PWHL's inaugural draft months later. She's since been a stalwart on the team's back end for two seasons.</p><p>"Honestly, when I really think about it, I think (not playing) was the best decision for me," Tabin said. "My journey, that's what I needed. I needed to step away from the game to realize what I just lost and how much I loved it. It didn't matter about money. It didn't matter about being on the best team or whatever. At the end of the day, I just wanted to play.</p><p>"I loved it. I wanted to be back with my friends, my teammates, the team environment. I think I got more and more hungry as I started to get back into things, and I wanted to get better. I wanted to be the best. That's kinda how I got here, I think."</p><p>Since 2000, only one Canadian or American player - Ann-Sophie Bettez - has made their IIHF or Olympic debut after turning 28 years old. Tabin hopes to be the second. Bettez featured at the 2019 Worlds with Canada at age 32 following years of superb play in the CWHL, only for the league to announce days before the World Championship that it would soon fold.</p><p>Over six years later, the PWHL's impact on the selection process has already been felt after just two short seasons, and it will only continue to grow in the coming years.</p><p>"That's the best part about this league," Victoire and Team Canada captain <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///pwhl/players/15778" href="https://thescore.com/pwhl/players/15778">Marie-Philip Poulin</a> said. "Having the chance to see players that you don't necessarily have the chance to see all the time. Those are the opportunities that people have, and when they take it, they go with it. That's the best part of it. Some players have had that opportunity to show up, and they have. "A consistent type of player for us in Montreal. She's physical. She's fast. She has a strong shot. She wants to get better at everything. She wants to evolve. Very, very happy that she's here, but it's no surprise. She's been working hard to get that chance and get that opportunity." </p><p>Victoire and Team Canada defender <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///pwhl/players/15773" href="https://thescore.com/pwhl/players/15773">Erin Ambrose</a> is likely Tabin's staunchest supporter, going so far as to emphasize Tabin's impact on her own success.</p><p>"I can guarantee you that the first year, I would not have won Defender of the Year if I weren't playing with Tabs," Ambrose said.</p><p>The 2022 Olympic gold medalist believes Tabin is firmly in the mix to make Team Canada and feels that she has plenty of untapped potential.</p><p>"I think there are a lot of places (she can take her game to)," Ambrose said. "Obviously, I have no decisions or anything, but it's not like Tabs is just the 10th D that was invited here. She's right in the mix with all of us."</p><p>Ambrose added, "I think that it's something that the more comfortable, confident she gets at these practices and Rivalry Series games, the more she's gonna see her potential and where her ceiling is. Because I think her ceiling is right up there with, honestly, where (reigning Defender of the Year) <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///pwhl/players/15845" href="https://thescore.com/pwhl/players/15845">Renata Fast</a> has gotten to. I think Tabs has the ability to get there, and I think that's something that she hasn't quite realized."</p><p>Tabin and Canada face the United States in the opening leg of the Rivalry Series on Thursday in Cleveland and again Saturday in Buffalo.</p>

<p>LIV Golf is making a significant change to its format, moving from 54-hole events to traditional 72-hole tournaments for the 2026 season, the tour announced Tuesday.</p><p>The three-day, 54-hole setup had been used since the league started play in 2022, with the name LIV representing the Roman numeral for the number 54. Those events traditionally ran Friday to Sunday, while next season will see tournaments span four days and start on Thursdays. </p><p>The change sees LIV move in line with the format used by the PGA TOUR and the majors and should catch the attention of the OWGR board as the league continues its quest to gain world ranking points.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"This is a win for the league and the players," two-time reigning LIV Golf individual champion <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///pga/players/1111" href="https://thescore.com/pga/players/1111">Jon Rahm</a> said. "LIV Golf is a player's league. We are competitors to the core and we want every opportunity to compete at the highest level and to perfect our craft. He's the second Flyer ever to start their Philadelphia tenure with a home point streak of that length after Peter Forsberg did it in 2005-06.</p><p>"It's such a blast getting to play at the Xfinity," Zegras said. "The fans are unbelievable, especially on a night like tonight, where maybe we didn't have our best out of the gate. The fans definitely showed the love and support to help us get the W."</p><p>Zegras struggled with inconsistency and dealt with injuries over the past two seasons. He notched 18 goals and 47 points in 88 games across his final two campaigns with the Anaheim Ducks after setting a career high with 23 goals and 65 points in 2022-23.</p><p>Philadelphia acquired Zegras from the Ducks in June for forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/8521" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/8521">Ryan Poehling</a>, plus second- and fourth-round draft picks.</p>

<p>The Dallas Stars signed defenseman <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/8659" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/8659">Thomas Harley</a> to an eight-year contract extension that carries a $10.59-million cap hit, the team announced Tuesday night.</p><p>Harley has eight points in nine games to start the season. He notched a career-high 16 goals and 50 points in 78 contests last campaign and finished seventh in Norris Trophy voting. Harley's new cap hit will make him the fourth highest-paid defenseman in the NHL next season.</p><p>Harley added 14 points in 18 playoff games while averaging 25:58 minutes per game. He ranked second to <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4772" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4772">Mikko Rantanen</a> in team scoring, and led the Stars in ice time. Only Edmonton Oilers blue-liner <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/7827" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/7827">Evan Bouchard</a> played more per game in the postseason among skaters who advanced past the first round.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Thomas has proven to be one of the top defensemen in our league, and his ability to step up in Miro Heiskanen's absence was an important part of our team maintaining its pace throughout last season," Stars general manager Jim Nill said. "We're looking forward to seeing him anchor our blue line alongside Miro for many years to come."</p><p>The 24-year-old featured for Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off as an injury replacement. He played two games at the event, both against the United States. Harley tallied an assist and played 21:59 in the tournament final.</p><p>Harley was set to become a restricted free agent in July. He's in the final season of a two-year pact signed in September 2024 that has a $4-million cap hit.</p><p>Harley will be the Stars' highest-paid defenseman in 2025-26, surpassing <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/6612" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/6612">Miro Heiskanen</a>'s $8.45-million average annual value. Rantanen has Dallas' highest cap hit at $12 million.</p>

<p>The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/9202" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/9202">Lukas Reichel</a> from the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2027 fourth-round pick, the teams announced Friday.</p><p>Reichel has two goals and four points in five games this season but has been a healthy scratch three times. He tallied two goals and three points on Oct. 15 versus the St. Louis Blues. Reichel has played under 11 minutes in four of his five appearances to start the campaign.</p><p>The 23-year-old had requested a trade in search of a better fit, reports <a href="https://x.com/PierreVLeBrun/status/1981815964971782602">TSN's Pierre LeBrun</a>.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Reichel notched a career-best eight goals and 22 points in 70 contests last campaign. He has primarily featured on the wing recently after struggling with a 40.5% career faceoff win percentage.</p><p>"Lukas is an exciting young player and someone we feel can help improve our forward group," Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said. "He's a talented playmaker who can create scoring opportunities with his offensive ability. Reichel has 22 goals and 58 points in 174 NHL games and is a minus-60 over parts of six seasons.</p><p>Reichel was one of six players named to Germany's preliminary Olympic roster in June.</p>

<p>It was a conversation with PWHL Vancouver general manager Cara Gardner Morey that made <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///pwhl/players/15850" href="https://thescore.com/pwhl/players/15850">Sarah Nurse</a> realize joining one of the league's expansion teams could actually be the best thing for her career.</p><p>"She basically said to me, 'Nursey, I feel like you are this incredible player, this incredible person. You've done amazing things on and off the ice, but I feel like there's 5% of you that I want to tap into, that I can help take you to that absolute next level,'" Nurse detailed to theScore at her Summer Summit in August. "And that really resonated with me."</p><p>That helped put Nurse "over the edge," in her words, to sign with Vancouver after the Toronto Sceptres left the forward unprotected in the PWHL's expansion process, which limited teams to initially protecting just three players.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>A motivated Nurse pushing to reach new heights is a scary thought for the rest of the PWHL - and for Team USA entering an Olympic year. After all, the 30-year-old Hamilton native already owns the Olympic scoring record of 18 points (set in 2022) and ranked second in PWHL scoring in the league's inaugural 2024 campaign.</p><p>Last season didn't go according to plan for Nurse. After a formidable start, she sustained a lower-body injury at the Rivalry Series in February that derailed the rest of her campaign. Gardner Morey and head coach Brian Idalski lead a completely new group that could be just what Nurse needs to unlock that extra 5%.</p><p>"It's really gotten me to push myself and grow," Nurse said of moving to a new city. "In Toronto, I've been surrounded by so many people that I've been around for so long that I have such a high level of respect for. I have coaches, I have people on staff, I have teammates who I've been with for seven to 10 years, and I absolutely adore all of them. I really think that this is a great step for me to break out of my shell, to break out of, I guess, the mold I've been in in Toronto, and really push myself to be an even better version of myself in Vancouver."</p><p>Moving on from Toronto was never part of Nurse's original plan; she wrote in her <a href="https://torontolife.com/city/sarah-nurse-leaving-toronto-sceptres-letter/">goodbye letter</a> to the city that she never thought she'd leave. The expansion process gave Nurse a first-hand lesson in the business side of hockey.</p><p>"It's cutthroat and ruthless, in the best way," Nurse said. "Obviously, the expansion was very aggressive. In a startup, in what we're trying to do, it really does have to be. I know people talked about three players being protected being ridiculously low, but in order to expand to new markets and create franchises that are going to be able to compete from Day 1, that's what we had to do. You may not have agreed with it, I may not have agreed with it - like, we didn't love the whole process, but it's what was necessary.</p><p>"Our league's a startup. At the end of the day, what we're building isn't necessarily for us. We're getting to reap some benefits right now, but it's for 20, 30, 40 years from now, when this is just the absolute buzzing, booming business from coast to coast."</p><p>Motivation is high for Nurse entering Vancouver's inaugural year, as well as what will almost certainly be her third Olympics. There will be girls coming in with chips on their shoulders. At the end of the day, I have a lot of respect and a lot of grace for the GMs, because they could only protect three players. I don't look at myself as being more worthy of being protected than the three players that were (protected by Toronto), because those are three incredible players as well."</p><p>While some around the PWHL spent part of their summer hosting hockey camps, Nurse took a different approach to giving back.</p><p>Nurse hosted her Summer Summit in downtown Toronto on Aug. 23: a conference designed to show young women the broad range of career opportunities connected to sports. Guest speakers ranged in background from business to fashion and more, all with the goal of inspiring the next generation.</p><p>"You don't have to be an athlete to actually be involved in sport," said Nurse, who was inspired to create the conference after being a panelist at the espnW Summit Canada in 2023. "I wanted to show people that there is a place in sport for absolutely everybody, and that doesn't have to include being on the ice or on the field or on the court."</p>

<p>Florida Panthers forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/100" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/100">Brad Marchand</a> will play his first game against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, although he's tried not to think about it due to the emotion involved.</p><p>"It kind of hits you when you're here a little bit more," Marchand told <a href="https://www.nhl.com/news/brad-marchand-calls-bruins-fans-awesome-ahead-of-boston-return-with-florida-panthers">NHL.com's Amalie Benjamin</a> on Monday. "I haven't thought about it a ton up until this point. I think that's probably why I don't, because then I'll get emotional about it. But it'll be hard not to. There are too many memories, and I was here too long."</p><p>Marchand played 16 seasons with the Bruins before being dealt to the Panthers at last season's trade deadline. He ranks fourth in Bruins history in goals (422), fifth in scoring (976), and fourth in games played (1,090). Marchand won the Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Panthers faced Boston days after Marchand was traded, but he didn't play due to injury. Marchand enjoyed immediate success in Florida once healthy, racking up 20 points in 23 playoff games as the Panthers claimed their second straight Stanley Cup. The Nova Scotia native re-signed with Florida just before free agency on a six-year, $31.5-million pact.</p><p>As Marchand returns to Boston, he's appreciative of Bruins fans and their passion.</p><p>"You go to all these places around the league where people don't show up and don't care, and they don't say anything, and you don't hear about hockey when you leave the rink," Marchand said. "But (Boston) is a real sports city. So when you leave, they care about it. They'll take it home and wear it to work the next day, just like you do. They don't just turn the TV off and forget about it. So when you have a fan base that's passionate like that, you've got to embrace it and appreciate it."</p><p>Marchand will try to cherish the moment, something he admits he hasn't done enough in his career.</p><p>"I'm just excited about it," Marchand said. "It'll be fun to be back here. It'll be fun to play the Bruins. It'll be fun to play against teammates. Have friends and family in the building again. These are things that, down the road, I think I'll really appreciate. There's been enough moments that I kind of went through and I didn't take it in enough or I didn't really appreciate it, and this is one that I will make sure that I do."</p>
