Boey returns to Galatasaray on loan from Bayern Munich
French defender Sacha Boey has re-joined Turkish side Galatasaray on a six-month loan from Bayern Munich, the German club confirmed on Thursday.
Boey joined Bayern from Galatasaray in January 2024 on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a reported fee of 30 million euros ($35 million) but has failed to find his best form in Munich.
In the two years since moving to Germany, the 25-year-old has struggled with injuries and form, playing 38 times for Bayern.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said the move would allow Boey to "acquire playing time at the highest level" in the Turkish Super Lig.
"Sacha knows Galatasaray well from his time before he joined us and will not need a long adjustment period in a familiar environment," Eberl added.
Right-back Boey played 83 times for Galatasaray from 2021 to 2024, scoring four goals.
German media reported the loan deal has an option to buy.
Galatasaray face Italian giants Juventus in a two-legged knockout tie in the Champions League in February.
The reigning Turkish double winners lead their domestic league with a three-point advantage over fierce rivals Fenerbahce.
