Championship roundup: Boro's Latte Lath hits 12-minute treble at Oxford

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick said Emmanuel Latte Lath had "found his stride" after the Ivory Coast forward scored a hat-trick in just 12 minutes during a 6-2 win at Oxford on Saturday.

Victory, which left Boro fifth in the second-tier Championship and just four points off the automatic promotion places, meant the northeast side had scored four or more goals for the third game in a row -- something they last achieved back in 1947. 

"It's just really enjoyable watching them perform at the moment, seeing them express themselves and getting their rewards for it," said Carrick.

"Emmanuel has found his stride - he's showing that extra bit of sharpness, that zip that he's showing us he's got."

Millwall manager Neil Harris, meanwhile, praised medical staff for the way they responded to two emergencies during a 1-1 draw with Championship leaders Sunderland. 

Both incidents took place towards the end of the first half, with play halted for 25 minutes before the game resumed.

Sunderland were ahead at the time through Aaron Connolly's first goal for the club but Femi Azaz's stoppage-time equaliser denied them all three points and extended Millwall's unbeaten run to eight games.

"I want to praise not just my medical team, that I thought were immense in their reaction, but also Sunderland's club doctor as well who went into the top tier of the home end to support one of our fans," Harris said.

Elsewhere 10-man Sheffield United were left second on goal difference following a 2-2 draw at Coventry.

Tyrese Campbell opened the scoring before Norman Bassette scored his first Coventry goal to level.

Jesurun Rak-Sayki put the Blades back in front before Anel Ahmedhodzic was sent off for grabbing Bassette by the throat and throwing him to the floor just before half-time.

Bobby Thomas headed Coventry level with 10 minutes remaining.

Burnley closed on the top two thanks to a 1-0 win at Bristol City secured by a goal from Jaidon Anthony.

Norwich are without a win in seven after they drew 2-2 at West Brom, while a Ben Gibson own-goal allowed basement club QPR to escape with a 1-1 draw at Stoke.
