Watch: Gueye sent off for lashing out at Everton teammate Keane
Idrissa Gueye was sent off following an on-pitch altercation with Everton teammate Michael Keane during Monday's Premier League trip to Manchester United.
Despite being down a man, Everton won 1-0 at Old Trafford through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's swerving effort from the edge of the box in the 29th minute.
The incident between Gueye and Keane erupted when they started arguing in the 13th minute of the match, with Gueye lashing out after Keane twice tried to push him away. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford then separated Gueye from Keane before referee Tony Harrington dismissed the Senegalese midfielder.
"The referee's call of red card to Gueye for violent conduct was checked and confirmed by VAR - with the action deemed to be a clear strike to the face of Keane," the Premier League Match Centre explained on X.

"I don't think anyone else in the stadium would have thought anything of it," Everton manager David Moyes told BBC Sport. "I quite like it when my players fight with each other because it shows they care and [put the] demands on players.
"Disappointed he got sent off. He’s apologized. He praised the team and is grateful for the result. We move on."
Gueye, 36, played for Everton for three years before he left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. He rejoined the Toffees from PSG toward the end of the summer transfer window in 2022. Across his two stints with Everton, he's been teammates with Keane for almost five-and-a-half seasons.
