Crystal Palace sign Strand Larsen from Wolves for reported £48M
Crystal Palace moved ahead with their signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen on transfer deadline day despite Jean-Philippe Mateta's transfer to AC Milan reportedly collapsing earlier Monday.
Strand Larsen, 25, joins from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an initial £43 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein. He's the most expensive signing in Crystal Palace's history.
The Norwegian striker, who was heavily linked with Newcastle United last summer, has scored one goal in 22 Premier League appearances this season. His prior campaign with Wolves was more successful, with 14 goals over 35 top-flight outings.
"I'm here to bring energy and goals and to try to do my best for the club," Strand Larsen said in a statement.
Mateta, who now appears to be staying at Crystal Palace for a few more months, is the club's top Premier League scorer this term with eight goals, but only one of those has come in his last 12 outings.
Crystal Palace are on a 12-game winless streak across all competitions and currently sit 15th in the Premier League table.
