Padres trade Connor Joe to Reds
The San Diego Padres traded utility player Connor Joe to the Cincinnati Reds for right-hander Andrew Moore and cash considerations, the teams announced Friday.
Joe signed a one-year, $1-million deal with the Padres in the offseason, but he didn't make the team out of spring training.
He was called up to the majors on April 14 and went 0-for-9 with six strikeouts in seven games before being optioned back to Triple-A on Saturday.
The 32-year-old has appeared in 445 contests throughout his six big-league seasons. His best campaign was in 2021 with the Colorado Rockies when he posted an .848 OPS (116 OPS+).
Moore was a 14th-round draft choice by the Seattle Mariners in 2021. The Reds acquired him in the Luis Castillo trade in 2022.
The 25-year-old has never appeared in the majors and posted a 4.15 ERA with a 12.5 K/9 at Double-A Chattanooga this season.
The Reds moved outfielder Tyler Callihan to the 60-day injured list to make room for Joe on the 40-man roster.
