The Los Angeles Angels signed utility man Chris Taylor to a major-league deal, the club announced Monday.

The one-year deal is worth $760K, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

Infielder Kyren Paris was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding roster move.

Taylor is batting eighth and playing center field for the Angels on Monday night against the New York Yankees.

The Los Angeles Dodgers released the 34-year-old on May 18 in what was his tenth season with the team. He hit .200/.200/.257 with zero home runs and two RBIs in 28 games before being cut.

"It was emotional," Taylor said of being released, according to Benjamin Royer of the Los Angeles Times. "I've been on the Dodgers for nine years, but I do believe it was time, for me. It was my time to kind of start fresh, you know, hopefully turn the page, start a new chapter. I'm excited to do that here."

Taylor is best known for his versatility, having played every position except catcher and first base at the MLB level.

The 12-year veteran owns a career .749 OPS (103 OPS+).
