Zack Short replaced Paredes as a pinch runner following the play.
The 26-year-old Paredes has been a key piece for the AL West-leading Astros, recording 19 homers with 50 RBIs and an .829 OPS over 94 games en route to becoming an All-Star for the second time in his six-year career.
The Astros acquired Paredes from the Chicago Cubs in the offseason as part of the Kyle Tucker trade.
