Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams lost a no-hit bid in the ninth inning against the New York Mets on Wednesday when Juan Soto took him deep with one out.

The 26-year-old allowed the homer on his 117th pitch of the day. He stayed in the game after the round-tripper, recording the second out before Hunter Gaddis replaced him.

Williams would have been the first Guardians pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Len Barker put together a perfect game in 1981.

The Guardians won the contest 4-1, and Williams earned his seventh victory of the season.
