Blue Jays promoting top prospect Yesavage to majors
The Toronto Blue Jays are promoting top prospect Trey Yesavage to the major-league roster, the team announced Sunday.
Toronto will activate Yesavage for his MLB debut Monday.
"It's insane. I've always dreamed about this, and it's finally come true. It's awesome," Yesavage said Sunday, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling.
"I was very emotional at first. And then after that, I was almost, like, numb. I didn't know how to feel. It was just a whirlwind of emotions."
The Blue Jays selected Yesavage in the first round of the 2024 draft after a terrific college career at East Carolina.
The 22-year-old right-hander has dominated minor-league hitting this season, recording a 3.12 ERA and 14.7 K/9 in 98 innings across multiple levels after beginning the campaign at Low-A Dunedin.
Yesavage appeared in six games - four starts - for Triple-A Buffalo, logging a 3.63 ERA and 13.5 K/9 in 17 1/3 innings.
