Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout suffered a left hand contusion after being hit by a pitch in the eighth inning of Sunday's win over the Seattle Mariners, manager Kurt Suzuki said, per Angels reporter Erica Weston.

Suzuki added that X-rays taken of Trout's hand returned negative. The Angels are listing the 34-year-old as day-to-day.

"After looking at how swollen it got, it scared me," Trout said postgame, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. "So I'm just relieved it's not broken."

Trout yelled in pain after being hit in the hand by a 94-mph fastball from Mariners reliever Casey Legumina. He left the game after a long discussion with Suzuki and the Angels' training staff.

"We know where they're trying to get me out, fastballs up and in, so it's just frustrating," Trout said about the inside pitch from Legumina. "You know, if you can't control it up there, you shouldn't do it. So it is what it is."

Oswald Peraza came in to run for Trout, who was 1-for-4 in the contest with two strikeouts.

Trout entered the contest with a .941 OPS and has appeared in every Angels game this season.

He got into 130 contests last campaign after appearing in 111 combined games across 2023 and 2024 due to injuries.
