Pete Alonso's first season with the Baltimore Orioles has gotten off to a rocky start, and the slugger isn't happy with his performance early on.

"This is not my standard," Alonso said following Friday's 6-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com's Jake Rill.

"Results-wise, yeah, it's unacceptable for me, and I will be better. ... I feel bad. A lot of people believe in me, and I believe in myself, but I'm not delivering results. I will. I just haven't. But I will."

Alonso is hitting .176/.263/.275 with one home run, three RBIs, and 17 strikeouts in his first 13 games since signing a five-year, $155-million deal in the offseason.

Baltimore brought in the 31-year-old to provide some much-needed power and production after he hit 264 homers across seven seasons with the New York Mets.

Although he hasn't lived up to those standards so far, "The Polar Bear" said he's confident that his best is yet to come with the Orioles, who he believes are capable of playing winning baseball despite their 6-7 record.

"I'm here to win. And I expect more out of myself, and I know other people do as well," Alonso said, according to Rill.

"The best is obviously going to come. ... And I will be better."
