Dombrowski: Thomson not on hot seat despite Phillies' struggles
Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski isn't considering moving on from manager Rob Thomson despite the team's seven-game losing streak.
"Put it this way. We're not," Dombrowski said Tuesday, according to ESPN. "But if we were, that's not something we've ever shared. Rob Thomson's been a good manager for us since (2022). We always look at everything that's taking place, but no."
Thomson has managed the Phillies since 2022 and helped lead them to an NL pennant, two division titles, and four straight playoff appearances.
Dombrowski said he's focused on figuring out how to improve the overall play of his team, which enters Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs with an 8-15 record. Philadelphia ranks among MLB's worst clubs in several important statistics.

"We just haven't played very well. It's really every portion of our game," Dombrowski said. "There's been some individual players that have done fine, by all means, who are doing well. As a group, I don't think any part of our team has excelled: offensively, pitching-wise, starting pitching-wise, defensively."
Outside of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, no Phillies regulars have an OPS higher than .708. Dombrowski named infielders Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott as players he thinks are better than what they've shown so far this season.
"Alec Bohm didn't forget how to be a good big-league hitter. Bryson Stott didn't forget how to be a good big-league hitter. And the list goes on with other people too," Dombrowski said. "They're good players, they're good hitters, it's just not working for them right now."
