KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays placed right-hander Jameson Taillon on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Saturday, a day after his abbreviated return from the IL.
The 34-year-old starter was pulled after two innings against the Kansas City Royals and sent for an MRI. The team is seeking a second opinion on the imaging, and manager John Schneider said the team hasn't ruled Taillon out for the season.
Taillon was making his first appearance since Aug. 10, when he was placed on the IL with right forearm tendinitis. The 34-year-old right-hander allowed one run on two hits in two innings before leaving.
He is 2-6 this season with a 5.65 ERA in 18 starts. He has pitched in three games and just 10 innings since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 2.
Toronto was one game behind Cleveland for the AL's final wild-card spot entering Saturday.
