Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has one thing on his mind as his team faces Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Tarik Skubal in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
"I just want to step on his throat," Murphy told reporters. He added, "I mean that respectfully, because I really like Tarik, but I just want to beat him."
Pat Murphy on facing Tarik Skubal in Game 1 of the NLCS: “I just wanna step on his throat. I mean that respectfully, ’cause I really like Tarik. […] I’m sure he’s gonna be able to feed his family and be a great dad. He can lose tonight and be fine.” 😭 https://t.co/CMdlqegsJx

The Brewers were unable to land Skubal at the trade deadline despite reportedly making a handsome offer to the Detroit Tigers. Instead, the Dodgers acquired the two-time Cy Young winner.
"I just think about, get it done right now," Murphy said. "He's going to be fine. I'm sure he's going to be able to feed his family and be a great dad. He can lose tonight and be fine."
Skubal starts Game 1 of the NLCS opposite Jacob Misiorowski for the Brewers.
