UFC 330 is upon us.
In Saturday's main event, Islam Makhachev defends the welterweight title for the first time against Ian Machado Garry. In the co-headliner, strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern makes her first defense against Gillian Robertson.
Here are four key storylines ahead of the UFC's return to Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
Makhachev looking to enter rarefied air
A record that's been held by Anderson Silva since 2010 could change hands this weekend.
Makhachev, a Khabib Nurmagomedov protege who's become one of the greatest fighters of this generation, has a chance to author the longest winning streak in UFC history. He tied Silva's longstanding mark with his 16th straight victory at UFC 322 last November and is seeking a record 17th against Garry.
For the longest time, Silva's winning streak - spanning 2006-12 - seemed untouchable. Many of the greats, including Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, and Demetrious Johnson, chased it but failed to surpass it. Kamaru Usman came closest a few years ago, winning 15 in a row before Leon Edwards' iconic head kick ended his welterweight title reign.
But Makhachev is officially on the doorstep. If he can unseat Silva and break one of the most impressive records in MMA, we will have no choice but to consider him in the GOAT conversation.
Can Garry put Irish MMA back on the map?
Conor McGregor's return to the Octagon last month didn't go as planned, but Irish MMA fans might have something to cheer about when Garry faces Makhachev.
If Garry wins, he'll be the second Irish fighter to win a UFC title after McGregor in 2015 and 2016.
Ireland has produced some solid talent in recent years, including Garry and the PFL's Paul Hughes, but things plainly aren't what they used to be in McGregor's prime.
Irish MMA is in desperate need of a boost on the global stage - and another UFC belt would provide just that. This is Garry's chance to become the new face of Irish MMA and put the country back on the map.

Dern, Robertson inject life into women's MMA
If it feels like this is the first UFC women's title fight of the year, that's because it is.
Women's MMA has reached a complete standstill in 2026. Bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison is recovering from a neck injury that ruled her out of a January bout against Amanda Nunes. Valentina Shevchenko has yet to defend her women's flyweight title due to lingering injuries. And Dern is just now making her first defense at strawweight.
Even outside the championship picture, there hasn't been much to get excited about.
Hopefully, Dern and Robertson can change that. While it's somewhat unfortunate that Zhang Weili isn't involved in the next strawweight title bout, this is a good alternative. Dern-Robertson is a competitive matchup that will give women's MMA a much-needed spark.
Barboza's swan song?
It feels like Edson Barboza has been in the UFC forever. The Brazilian has competed in 32 fights since making his debut in 2010 and was a top contender for a good chunk of that time.
But all good things must come to an end. At age 40 and on the heels of a three-fight losing streak, Barboza's fight against Esteban Ribovics could be his last, as he admitted earlier this week. Let's see if he can go out with a bang.
