Toronto Raptors All-Star Scottie Barnes won't travel with the team for Wednesday's game versus the Charlotte Hornets after taking an elbow to the eye during Monday's defeat to the Denver Nuggets, the team announced.

Barnes will remain in Toronto to undergo further medical assessments, and the team is expected to update his condition on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

Nikola Jokic struck the Raptors forward with his forearm as the two players battled for a rebound in the late stages of the fourth quarter Monday. Barnes didn't return for the remainder of the fourth quarter or overtime.

Barnes has appeared in all four games for the Raptors this season and is second on the team with 19.3 points per game. He's also averaging 7.8 rebounds and six assists.

The 23-year-old is coming off a career year in which he was selected as an injury replacement for the All-Star Game.

The 1-3 Raptors travel to Charlotte following back-to-back losses to the Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves.
