Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum didn't play in Wednesday's 109-100 Game 2 victory over the Orlando Magic due to a bone bruise in his right wrist.

Jaylen Brown picked up the slack with Tatum sidelined, dropping 36 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to give the Celtics a 2-0 series lead.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla said Tuesday that Tatum is day-to-day.

Tatum sustained the injury in Sunday's 103-86 series-opening win, landing on his wrist after taking a hard foul from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on a drive to the basket.

The six-time All-Star finished Game 1 despite getting hurt, posting 17 points in 40 minutes of action. Caldwell-Pope received a flagrant-1 foul on the play.

Orlando went 2-0 against Boston during the regular season when Tatum didn't play.

Tatum had never missed a playoff game prior to Wednesday, appearing in 114 straight, which was the longest active streak in the NBA.

The 27-year-old averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and six assists across 72 regular-season games in 2024-25.
