Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick downplayed his now-viral exchange with star player Luka Doncic that occurred during Saturday's win over the Golden State Warriors.

"I didn't think much of it at the time, and to be honest with you, I don't think Luka did either," Redick told reporters before Tuesday's win over the New Orleans Pelicans, per Lakers Nation. "He and I have a great relationship. I really value our relationship. I think those things happen. Not every game, but they happen very frequently. Sometimes you have to rehash them with a player, or as a teammate sometimes it happens player to player."

Redick and Doncic appeared to argue on the sidelines Saturday after the latter refused to accept a high five from his coach, prompting forward Jarred Vanderbilt to get up from his seat and stand between the two.

Los Angeles entered the contest against Golden State on a three-game losing streak but has since won three in a row. Redick cited his and Doncic's desire to win as reason for the disjointed interaction.

"It's a competition, and there's two guys here who are trying to win a basketball game and be on the same page about stuff," Redick said.

He added, "I don't know why it went viral. It felt very normal to me."

The Lakers (37-24) enter play Wednesday sitting sixth in the Western Conference.
