Westbrook blasts reporters after Kings' 50th loss

Kings guard Russell Westbrook was fed up with team reporters following Sacramento's 50th loss on Thursday, candidly calling out several individuals during his postgame press conference.

"Go out and compete. ... What do y'all think, though? Because you've all got a lot of answers and always be talking," Westbrook said when asked what the Kings can accomplish to close out the season.

The former MVP continued by questioning the reporters' criticism of the team and players, adding that he believes their commentary often lacks proper context.

"Your job is to talk about the game, what's happening in the game," Westbrook said. "Not stir up a bunch of ... stuff that is not accurate."

"You guys are making false comments about our team and what we're doing here, and I don't appreciate that."

Westbrook joined the Kings ahead of the season to provide additional veteran support, following two disappointing seasons after Sacramento's 48-win campaign in 2022-23. The 37-year-old has averaged 15.3 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game this season.

The Kings are currently experiencing one of their worst seasons - a notable mark considering the team has endured 19 50-loss campaigns since moving to Sacramento ahead of the 1985-86 season, including a franchise-record 65 losses in 2008-09.
