Westbrook vaults Nash, Jackson for 5th on all-time assists list

Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook moved into fifth place on the NBA's all-time assists leaderboard during Tuesday's 132-104 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs.

Westbrook entered the game in seventh position, just one assist behind Mark Jackson. With his second and third assists of the night, the 37-year-old surpassed both Jackson and Hall of Famer Steve Nash on the all-time list.

Westbrook holds the NBA mark for career triple-doubles with 209, and his 42 triple-doubles during his MVP-winning 2016-17 campaign are unmatched. He's also one of three players in league history to average a triple-double over a season, joining Oscar Robertson and Nikola Jokic.

The nine-time All-Star entered Tuesday's game as the NBA career record-holder for rebounds by a guard with 9,021 and ranked 14th on the league's all-time scoring list with 27,160 points.

Westbrook is in his 18th season and first with Sacramento after signing a one-year contract in the summer. The Kings are Westbrook's seventh team.
