Report: Kings' Christie to return for 2nd full season
The Sacramento Kings will bring back head coach Doug Christie for his second full season in 2026-27, sources told ESPN's Anthony Slater.
The Kings head into the final day of the regular season tied with the Utah Jazz for the worst record in the Western Conference and fourth-worst mark overall at 22-59.
Christie took over as head coach in December 2024, following the Kings' firing of Mike Brown. He finished out that initial 2024-25 season with a 27-24 record, leading the franchise to make him the permanent head coach on a new three-year contract.
Questionable roster decisions and injuries have stymied the Kings throughout this campaign. Veterans like DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook have put up solid numbers, but mostly in losing causes, while other pieces like Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis played fewer than 25 games.
Christie, who suited up for Sacramento from 2000-05, first joined the Kings' coaching staff in 2021.
