Wemby enters concussion protocol after hitting face on court
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama won't return to Tuesday's Game 2 against the Portland Trail Blazers after entering the NBA's concussion protocol.
Wembanyama left in the second quarter after losing his balance while attempting to spin around Trail Blazers guard Jrue Holiday, causing him to fall hard on his face.

Wembanyama had five points, four rebounds, an assist, and a block in 12 minutes before exiting. The 22-year-old led Mitch Johnson's side with 35 points in its Game 1 win, going 13-of-21 from the field - including 5-of-6 from three - and setting a new franchise record for points in a playoff debut.
On Monday, the former first overall pick was named the Defensive Player of the Year, giving him a second piece of individual hardware in his young career following his 2023-24 Rookie of the Year campaign. Wembanyama is also a finalist for this year's MVP award alongside last year's winner, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and three-time recipient Nikola Jokic.
