The Memphis Grizzlies are sending Spanish forward Santi Aldama to the Dallas Mavericks, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.
Dallas is reportedly trading AJ Johnson, a protected 2030 first-round pick via the Golden State Warriors, and two second-round picks in the deal. The Mavericks are also reportedly acquiring the draft rights to Fenerbahce forward Tarik Biberovic, the 56th overall pick by the Grizzlies in 2023.
Aldama tallied career highs in scoring (14 points per game) and rebounding (6.7) last season but played just 43 games before undergoing a season-ending procedure on his right knee in March. He averaged the second-most minutes (27.9) of any Grizzlies player to appear in more than 20 games. The 7-footer was the final draft selection of the first round in 2021.
Johnson is entering his third season and joining his fourth franchise. The 21-year-old wing was selected 23rd overall in 2024 by the Milwaukee Bucks, who sent him to the Washington Wizards midway through his rookie season. Johnson then landed in Dallas in February as part of the three-team deal that sent Anthony Davis to Washington.
