The New York Knicks and free-agent center Andre Drummond agreed to a one-year, $3.9-million contract, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Entering his 14th season, Drummond is likely to replace Mitchell Robinson in the defending champs' rotation. Robinson reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Drummond spent the past two seasons in Philadelphia, serving as the 76ers' backup center behind star Joel Embiid. Drummond started in 25 of his 63 appearances last season, posting 6.4 points and a team-best 8.4 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.
New York may continue to scour the free-agent market for another backup center after reportedly losing Ariel Hukporti to the 76ers on a similar one-year deal. Denver Nuggets big man Jonas Valanciunas would be New York's preferred option if he's waived and becomes an unrestricted free agent, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.
