Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren will miss at least two weeks with a strained hamstring, the team announced Sunday.
Duren sustained the injury Friday against the Miami Heat, playing just over 10 minutes in the 128-111 win before checking out in the second quarter.
"It's tough when you lose a guy that means as much to us as JD does," coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters before Sunday's game in Philadelphia. "It's tough. Tough for him. Trying to come back and get himself situated to start the year. You miss those days. It's obviously a little bit difficult for us."
The 22-year-old signed a five-year, $200-million extension with the Pistons earlier in October following protracted offseason negotiations.
Duren finished with four points, six rebounds, three assists, one block, and a steal in the win over Miami. The All-NBA center played 28 minutes in Detroit's season-opening win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, matching Cade Cunningham with a team-high 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds as the Pistons reversed a 22-point deficit in the second half.
