Kansas State is finalizing a settlement agreement with former head coach Jerome Tang that will pay him $12 million through 2027, sources told Pete Thamel of ESPN.
The Wildcats announced in February that they fired Tang for cause after he publicly lashed out at his players between double-digit losses to Cincinnati and Houston.
At the time, Tang, who had nearly $19 million remaining on a contract through 2030-31, said he intended to challenge the dismissal but didn't file a suit against the school, according to Thamel.
Tang led the Wildcats for four seasons, posting a combined 73-57 record. In his first year in 2022-23, he took K-State to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years, a run that ended in a narrow loss to Florida Atlantic in the Elite Eight. However, the Wildcats didn't return to March Madness under Tang, who was eventually dismissed with a 10-15 record last season.
In April, the 59-year-old returned to Baylor, where he previously worked as an assistant on Scott Drew's staff. He's now the Bears' associate head coach.
