College football's king of social media has abdicated the throne.
Lane Kiffin provided almost as many viral social media posts as his offense scored touchdowns during his time at Ole Miss, but the new LSU head coach said Thursday at SEC Media Days that he's no longer online due to a bet with his son.
"He just said, 'I bet you can't do it.' I said, 'Yeah, I can. Watch.' And I got off of everything. ... Don't even have the apps, so it's not even like I read it either," Kiffin told reporters, including Matt Moscano of LouisianaSports.net.
He added, "A lot of great things have come when I've subtracted things out of my life, when I've eliminated them. That wasn't the plan to do, but then I did it and now it's been a couple months. It's been really refreshing."
Kiffin made social media trolling an art form while coaching the Rebels, routinely poking fun at other coaches and programs across the country. One of those coaches was Georgia's Kirby Smart, whom Kiffin became friends with during their time together on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama.
On Tuesday, Smart delivered one of the best moments from media days when asked about Kiffin's trolling habits.

However, it seems Kiffin's trolling days are finished - at least on social media - as he continued to speak positively of his offline experience.
"It's been really freeing because what you do at the end of the day is you don't compare anything," Kiffin said.
He added, "It's been an interesting experience for me to see because whenever I remove something, whether that was bad habits, whether that was food, whether that was alcohol, whether that was toxic relationships, or now social media, anything that I've removed throughout life - once you remove it, you start to notice how many people are dependent on it."
The first month of Kiffin's debut season with the Tigers will include his highly anticipated return to Ole Miss on Sept. 19. While new Rebels head coach Pete Golding made it clear Wednesday that he and Kiffin are on great terms, the team's fan base likely has different thoughts on its former frontman.
