New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen indicated the team won't force a quarterback selection with the No. 3 pick in April's draft.

However, Schoen emphasized the potential the Giants need to see in a prospect to justify selecting a signal-caller with the franchise's highest draft pick since 2018.

"If you're talking about where we're picking, you'd like that guy to be able to be a franchise quarterback that you can win with, (where) you're winning the NFC East every year," Schoen said Monday at the league's annual meeting, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

"The ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl if you're taking a guy that high, so they have to be able to check (all) those boxes."

Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are expected to be the top two quarterbacks selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Two-way star Travis Hunter, pass-rusher Abdul Carter, and offensive lineman Will Campbell are among the highest-rated non-QBs.

New York already added veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, giving the team more flexibility with its top pick.

"We're in a position where we can take who we think is the best football player at that time," Schoen said.

He added: "If it matches up, if the value is right, we can look at many positions and take a guy."

Schoen said he informed Wilson the Giants are "open to everything" with the No. 3 selection, including potentially drafting a quarterback. The Super Bowl-winning QB recently said he expects to be New York's starter in 2025.
