Fantasy: 10 most intriguing Day 2 picks
A deep crop of talent was still available on Day 2 after only 10 skill position players were taken in the opening round of the NFL draft.
Below, we rank the most intriguing offensive rookies selected in Rounds 2 and 3 in terms of their fantasy outlooks, now that we know their draft capital and landing spots.
Most intriguing Day 2 picks
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Browns (36th)
Redraft value: Low-end RB2
Dynasty rookie value: Mid-first round
Judkins' physical style should fit well in Cleveland, where he instantly becomes the favorite to start in Week 1. If he can prove himself as a pass protector, the 21-year-old will emerge as a three-down workhorse and a focal point of Kevin Stefanski's scheme that relies heavily on the run game and play action.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots (38th)
Redraft value: High-end RB3
Dynasty rookie value: Mid-first round
Henderson's big-play ability will be a welcome addition to a Patriots offense that's lacked playmakers in recent years. His pass-catching skills and consistency as a blocker will get him on the field from Day 1 and be extremely beneficial for Drake Maye's development. The only thing holding Henderson's fantasy stock down slightly in the short-term will be the presence of incumbent starter Rhamondre Stevenson, who complements Henderson's style well. However, it's only a matter of time before this is Henderson's backfield.
RJ Harvey, RB, Broncos (60th)
Redraft value: RB3 with upside
Dynasty rookie value: Late-first to early-second round
Denver was one of the most running-back needy teams entering the draft and it addressed that with Harvey, who's an undersized (5-8, 205 pounds) and older (24) prospect. Whether he can take over a wide open Broncos' backfield (Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime) remains to be seen, but Sean Payton clearly has a vision for him. Though Harvey's fantasy outlook will have plenty of risk attached to it, minimal competition is standing in the way of him being the Week 1 starter.
Kaleb Johnson, RB, Steelers (83rd)
Redraft value: RB3/Flex
Dynasty rookie value: Late-first to early-second round
Johnson wasn't taken until midway through the third round, but he still managed to get one of the better landing spots for a running back. The rookie will share the backfield with Jaylen Warren while stepping directly into the role vacated by Najee Harris. Johnson is a powerful runner who routinely gets more than what's blocked for him, which should win over coaches and fans. Even with Warren's involvement limiting his ceiling, Johnson will be worth targeting in all formats.
Jayden Higgins, WR, Texans (34th)
Redraft value: WR4/Flex
Dynasty rookie value: Early to mid-2nd round
Higgins being drafted early in the second round to a team with quality quarterback play gives a significant boost to his fantasy profile. With Tank Dell expected to miss the season after a potentially career-threatening injury, Higgins will now join forces with Nico Collins and Christian Kirk to form a very dangerous trio in Houston. His size and ball skills should help him evolve into a solid No. 2 receiver and eventually a fantasy starter once he overtakes Kirk in the pecking order.
Luther Burden III, WR, Bears (39th)
Redraft value: WR5/Flex
Dynasty rookie value: Early to mid-2nd round
Burden missed out on the first round, but he didn't have to wait long to hear his name called on Day 2. He's now headed to a Bears offense that's been assembling talent at an Avengers-like pace this offseason. While that's great news for Caleb Williams, it could delay Burden's launch into NFL and fantasy stardom. He'll have to begin his career competing for targets with DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and first-round rookie tight end Colston Loveland.
Tre Harris, WR, Chargers (55th)
Redraft value: WR5/Flex
Dynasty rookie value: 2nd round
Aside from Ladd McConkey, the Chargers' pass-catcher depth chart was very thin entering the draft. Harris now provides an ideal complement to McConkey as a physical wideout who will use his contested-catch ability to make plays downfield. How quickly that translates to fantasy success will depend on how long it takes for him to pass Mike Williams and Quentin Johnston on the depth chart.
Tyler Shough, QB, Saints (40th)
Redraft value: Low-end QB2
Dynasty rookie value: 2nd round
With Derek Carr's health up in the air for this season, Shough has a legitimate chance to start at some point in 2025 and perhaps even in Week 1. New head coach Kellen Moore certainly seemed enamored with him when he spoke to the media and highlighted how prepared he is for a prospect. That's also not surprising given his age - Shough turns 26 in September. If you're looking to go discount shopping for a quarterback who could overachieve thanks to good coaching and some talented skill position players around him, Shough is your guy.
Kyle Williams, WR, Patriots (69th)
Redraft value: WR5/flex
Dynasty rookie value: Late 2nd round
Chasing the fantasy upside of a Patriots' rookie receiver has been a fool's errand in the past, but this time might be different if Maye continues to ascend. With the team's projected No. 1 target Stefon Diggs working his way back from a torn ACL, other pass-catchers will get opportunities to step up. Williams has as good a shot as anyone to earn a starting role behind Diggs, which might be more of an indictment on the prior WR disappointments in New England than a vote of confidence for the third-rounder.
Mason Taylor, TE, Jets (42nd)
Redraft value: Low-end TE2
Dynasty rookie value: Late second round
Despite being overshadowed by the top tight ends in this class (Loveland, Tyler Warren), Taylor found himself an easy path to a starting job in New York. Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt formed one of the weakest tight end depth charts in the league before Taylor was added to the mix. The only problem is the new offense is likely to be a lower-volume attack with Justin Fields at the helm, and Garrett Wilson will soak up a large portion of the targets. Still, Taylor is worth monitoring as a tight end sleeper.
