Hamilton to miss extended time, Siegenthaler out for regular season
The hits keep coming for the New Jersey Devils.
Defenseman Dougie Hamilton "will be out an extended time," while fellow rearguard Jonas Siegenthaler will miss the remainder of the regular season, general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced Friday.
Hamilton missed the final two periods of Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars after suffering an undisclosed injury.
Siegenthaler hasn't played since Feb. 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to a lower-body injury. He underwent a procedure to address the issue during the 4 Nations Face-Off break and was expected to miss only another two-to-three weeks.
Hamilton leads the Devils' blue line with nine goals and 40 points in 63 games while logging 19:48 of ice time this season. Siegenthaler has nine points and 92 blocks in 55 games while averaging 19:36.
New Jersey announced Wednesday that superstar center Jack Hughes would miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The Devils are in third place in the Metropolitan Division with a 33-24-6 record but had a modest trade deadline on Friday, bringing in defenseman Dennis Cholowski and forwards Daniel Sprong, Cody Glass, and Jonathan Gruden. New Jersey also added rearguard Brian Dumoulin on Thursday.
