The Los Angeles Kings traded forward Warren Foegele and a conditional 2026 third-round pick to the Ottawa Senators for a 2026 second-round pick and a conditional 2026 third-round pick, the teams announced Thursday.

The Buffalo Sabres originally owned the second-round pick.

Ottawa will receive either Los Angeles' third-round pick or Dallas' (which the Kings acquired in a previous trade), depending on which is worse. L.A. will get the better pick between Ottawa's third-round selection and Washington's (which the Senators obtained previously). If the Kings and Senators both miss the playoffs this year, Ottawa will instead transfer the worse of its third-round picks to Los Angeles.

Foegele set carer highs with 24 goals and 46 points with the Kings last season but has regressed during the 2025-26 campaign, managing seven goals and two assists in 47 appearances.

Despite his poor offensive output this season, Foegele has posted strong defensive metrics. He should provide a boost to Ottawa's middle-six forward group and another penalty-killing option.

The 29-year-old is signed through next season with a $3.5-million cap hit.
