Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee and is expected to be out approximately six-to-nine months, the team announced Wednesday.
Sandin is likely to miss the start of next season.
Sandin suffered the injury on April 11 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and missed Washington's final two games of the campaign.
The 26-year-old registered 29 points in 73 contests with the Capitals in 2025-26. He also averaged 19:12 per contest, fifth-most among Washington defensemen.
Sandin has three more years left on his contract with a $4.6-million cap hit.
