The Montreal Canadiens gave Brendan Gallagher's agent, Gerry Johansson, permission to help facilitate a trade involving the veteran winger this offseason, reports CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal.
Gallagher has one season remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $6.5 million and owns a full no-movement clause, meaning he'd have to approve any potential trade destination.
The 34-year-old acknowledged his time with the Canadiens was coming to a close during his end-of-season availability earlier this week.
"It's pretty clear I'll be kind of moving on here," an emotional Gallagher said, per Sportsnet's Eric Engels.
Montreal made Gallagher a healthy scratch for all but three of its playoff games this spring. He also registered 23 points in 77 regular-season contests, his lowest total in a full season during his 14-year career.
The Canadiens drafted Gallagher in the fifth round in 2010. He debuted with the club in the 2012-13 season and has notched 487 points in 911 contests.
