The Minnesota Wild signed forward Michael McCarron to a six-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $3.3 million, the team announced Tuesday.
McCarron was scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason after the Wild acquired him from the Nashville Predators at this season's trade deadline for a 2028 second-round pick.
The 31-year-old is set to earn a significant raise from the $900,000 AAV he's made the past two seasons.
McCarron notched five points in 20 games with the Wild and added four points in the playoffs as Minnesota reached the second round.
After signing McCarron, the Wild are projected to have approximately $9.4 million in cap space this offseason, per PuckPedia. Minnesota's No. 1 priority is a top-six center, and the club is reportedly one of three teams Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin would accept a trade to.
