Washington Capitals forward Ivan Miroshnichenko and his camp are working with the team to facilitate a trade, his agent Dan Milstein told "DFO Insider" on Wednesday.
"He's a very good young player, very promising with superstar potential," Milstein said. "Unfortunately, or fortunately for Washington, they have way too many guys, way too many bodies. And this season, he cannot be playing every single night.
"As a result, we are looking for a home, working closely with the Washington Capitals, and hopeful that in the near future he would be joining another team where he would have an opportunity to play in a top-six role."
Miroshnichenko has appeared in just three of Washington's 14 games this season. The 22-year-old winger would need to clear waivers to be sent down to the AHL.
Drafted 20th overall by the Capitals in 2022, Miroshnichenko has six goals and eight assists in 55 career NHL games across four seasons since debuting as a 19-year-old in 2023-24. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder has also tallied 46 goals and 101 points in 141 career AHL contests.
Miroshnichenko is signed through next season with a $925,000 cap hit before he becomes a restricted free agent.
