Woods hasn't played a PGA TOUR event since the 2024 Open Championship. He committed to participating in the Genesis Invitational, an event he hosts annually, in February, but he withdrew following the death of his mother.
The 49-year-old then underwent surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon in March. Woods' latest procedure is the seventh on his back since 2014.
The 15-time major champion also had surgery on leg and ankle injuries stemming from a car crash in 2021. He's played only 11 TOUR events since the accident.
Woods hasn't announced a recovery timeline for his most recent surgery. He last won a tournament in 2019 and remains tied for the record with 82 career victories.
