Lewis Hamilton says he forgot who he was during his recent struggles in Formula 1, but he promises a rejuvenated version of himself is ready to take the 2026 season by storm.

"I'm reset and refreshed," Hamilton said on Instagram following preseason testing in Bahrain. "I'm not going anywhere, so stick with me. For a moment, I forgot who I was, but thanks to you and your support, you're not going to see that mindset again. I know what needs to be done. This is going to be one hell of a season. I've given everything to be here today."

Hamilton endured a nightmare debut season for Ferrari in 2025, going the entire season without a win, pole, or podium. His only achievement was a sprint race victory at the Chinese Grand Prix. This was the continuation of a difficult stretch that's seen F1's all-time leader in wins take only two victories over the last four years.

The 2026 season will offer new regulations for F1 that could aid Hamilton, who notoriously struggled with the last ruleset. Ferrari also had an impressive showing during the preseason with Charles Leclerc recording the fastest time in Bahrain.

Hamilton will be aiming to become the first pilot to win eight drivers' titles while Ferrari is looking to win its first championship since 2008 when it won the constructors' crown.
