New York Yankees star outfielder Juan Soto was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics with soreness and swelling in his left knee, the club announced.
Soto banged his left knee on the wall in foul territory while making a nice sliding catch during Thursday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said X-rays were negative and Soto isn't scheduled to undergo any additional testing, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
Soto, 25, has enjoyed a terrific season for the Yankees after he was acquired in a trade with the San Diego Padres in the offseason. He's hit a career-high 40 home runs, 103 RBIs, and a .993 OPS in 149 games.
