A's sign Leclerc to 1-year contract reportedly worth $10M
The Athletics and veteran reliever José Leclerc agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Friday.
Leclerc will earn $10 million in 2025, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The 31-year-old is no stranger to pitching in the AL West after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Texas Rangers. Leclerc posted a 6-5 record with a 4.32 ERA and 89 strikeouts across 66 2/3 innings for Texas in 2024. The right-hander has experience pitching in the ninth inning and owns a career 11.8 K/9 in 350 appearances.
The signing of Leclerc is the latest move in a surprisingly active offseason for the Athletics. The club also signed right-hander Luis Severino, traded for left-hander Jeffrey Springs, and inked slugger Brent Rooker to a five-year contract extension.
The Athletics are set to play home games at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento this season as the franchise awaits the completion of its new stadium in Las Vegas.
