Pirates sign Frazier to 1-year deal reportedly worth $1.525M

The Pittsburgh Pirates and veteran utility player Adam Frazier agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.

Frazier will earn $1.525 million in 2025, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

The Pirates designated right-hander Elvis Alvarado for assignment to make room for Frazier on the 40-man roster.

Frazier struggled in 2024, slashing .202/.282/.294 with four home runs, 10 doubles, and 22 RBIs across 104 games with the Kansas City Royals.

However, the 33-year-old is a versatile defensive player, making appearances at second base, third base, and both corner outfield spots last season.

Frazier is returning to the Pirates for a second stint after spending parts of the first six seasons of his MLB career in Pittsburgh. He's a lifetime .264 hitter with a .713 OPS in 1,066 games.
