New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is dealing with a chronic calf issue in addition to injuries to both of his elbows, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

The elbow injuries are the more concerning issue, although Heyman reported hearing some optimism that Stanton might be able to return to action by Memorial Day (May 26).

Stanton navigated calf injuries in 2019, 2020, and 2022. The 35-year-old has not yet participated in baseball activities this spring because of severe injuries with both elbows. Stanton acknowledged last week that he would miss the entire 2025 season if he needs to undergo surgery.

The five-time All-Star has missed extensive time because of injuries throughout his MLB career. He hasn't appeared in more than 114 games in a season since 2021.

The injuries have forced Stanton into a full-time DH role. He's made a combined 97 outfield appearances since 2019 and didn't log a single game in the outfield last season.
