Orioles' O'Hearn: Getting swept by Twins 'feels like a kick in the nuts'
Ryan O'Hearn didn't mince words Thursday after his Baltimore Orioles were swept by the Minnesota Twins.
“I don't ever show up to the ballpark thinking that we're going to lose," he said after the 4-0 loss, according to Matt Weyrich of the Baltimore Sun. "I thought it was a good series in Anaheim, and this feels like a kick in the nuts, for sure."
The Orioles took two of three from the Los Angeles Angels in their previous series but were held scoreless on just six hits - two from O'Hearn - by Minnesota pitchers Chris Paddack, Louis Varland, and Jhoan Duran.
The Twins won both contests in a split doubleheader between the teams Wednesday. They also swept the Orioles last week and have won 11 straight games overall.
Baltimore's record now sits at 15-27 after winning 91 games last year.
"This is frustrating," O'Hearn said, according to Jake Rill of MLB.com. "Losing sucks. It's not fun. Nobody in here is having a good time, and I promise you, nobody cares more than the guys in this clubhouse.
"With that being said, we have to keep fighting, there is no other option."
The Orioles have struggled in all facets of the game. The club's minus-74 run differential is the worst in the American League and the second worst in baseball behind only the Colorado Rockies.
O'Hearn has been Baltimore's most consistent hitter in 2025, slashing .295/.378/.518 with seven home runs and 14 RBIs.
