The San Diego Padres have shown interest in Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, sources told The Athletic's Dennis Lin.

The Padres also had interest in acquiring Duran before the 2024 season, per Lin.

Duran is under team control through the 2028 season. He signed a one-year, $3.85-million contract with an $8-million club option for 2026 in January.

The 28-year-old is slashing .264/.312/.406 with four home runs, 13 doubles, six triples, 34 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases across 60 games for the Red Sox so far this campaign.

Padres general manager A.J. Preller is no stranger to making a big splash via trade or free agency: He pulled off blockbuster trades for right-hander Dylan Cease, Juan Soto, and Luis Arraez over the past few seasons.

San Diego has received very little in terms of offensive production from its left fielders in 2025, ranking last in the league in wRC+ (34), home runs (2), and OPS (.466).
