Judge passes DiMaggio for 4th on Yankees' all-time HR list

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit the 362nd home run of his career in the first inning of Friday's 4-1 win over Boston Red Sox to pass Joe DiMaggio for fourth in franchise history.

Judge took 1,130 games to reach the mark, while DiMaggio needed 1,736 contests. The former only trails Lou Gehrig (493), Mickey Mantle (536), and Babe Ruth (659) on New York's all-time list.

"It's special, but just like all those guys in front of me on those lists - they weren't playing for records," Judge said postgame, according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. "They were playing to win, so I'm just trying to follow in their footsteps."

The 33-year-old also set an MLB record with his 19th first-inning homer of the year, breaking a tie with Alex Rodriguez from 2001.

Judge's homer was No. 47 this season. He's three long balls away from reaching the 50-homer plateau for the fourth time in his 10-year career.

The two-time AL MVP has hit the most round-trippers by a right-handed batter in Yankees history.
