Report: Rays bring in Mullins on 1-year, $7M deal

The Tampa Bay Rays and outfielder Cedric Mullins agreed to a one-year contract, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Mullins' deal is for $7 million, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The 31-year-old hit a combined 17 homers with 59 RBIs, 22 stolen bases, and a .690 OPS over 133 games between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets in 2025. The speedster has swiped at least 30-plus bags in three campaigns over his eight-year career.

Mullins is still a solid defensive outfielder despite some of his offensive limitations. He projects to be the Rays starting center fielder next season after finishing in the 87th percentile for outs above average this year.

Mullins had his best season in 2021, when he put up a 30-30 campaign with an .878 OPS in 159 contests en route to being named an All-Star with the Orioles. He spent the first eight years of his career with Baltimore.
