Report: Mets plan to have Soto back Wednesday
The New York Mets plan to have star outfielder Juan Soto return Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The Mets are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak, their longest since 2004. The club has not won a game since April 7.
Soto was placed on the 10-day injured list April 6 due to a calf strain and was initially expected to miss two-to-three weeks.
The four-time All Star was off to a hot start, batting .355 with one home run, five RBIs, and a .928 OPS through eight games.
Expectations were high for the Mets after an offseason overhaul that brought in Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien, Jorge Polanco, Luis Robert Jr., Devin Williams, and Freddy Peralta.
New York starts a series with the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at Citi Field. It'll be the Mets' first game in front of their home fans since a 1-0 loss to the Athletics that marked their fifth defeat of the current streak.
