Cincinnati Reds star shortstop Elly De La Cruz will be sidelined for two-to-four weeks with a right hamstring strain, manager Terry Francona announced Monday, according to Mike Petraglia of CLNS.

Francona said an MRI revealed that De La Cruz has between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 strain.

The Reds placed the 24-year-old on the 10-day injured list Monday.

"It just can't be one guy," Francona said when asked how the Reds will replace De La Cruz's production. "That's not fair to anybody. We're going to need to go not just one through nine but one through 13. Don't do more. Just play the game like you're supposed to."

De La Cruz had never previously been on the IL in his four-year career. He pulled up while running to first base on a hit in the fifth inning of Sunday's 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves.

The two-time All-Star played in 276 consecutive games dating back to 2024 before his injury - the sixth-longest streak for a Reds player in the expansion era.

De La Cruz has 12 homers with 37 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, and an .855 OPS across 58 contests this season. Defensively, he ranks in the 97th percentile for outs above average and 91st for arm strength.

The Reds also recalled infielder Edwin Arroyo, selected the contract of left-hander Brandon Leibrandt, and designated right-hander Yunior Marte for assignment.
